Christmas Eve is a very special time in my home. It is for my immediate family only – my husband and twin daughters.
Over the years, we’ve created a variety of traditions centered around reading books and watching Christmas classics, like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
As my girls got a bit older, we started reading a short story called “The Shepherd” by Frederick Forsyth. It’s a story of a pilot desperately trying to find his way home for Christmas after his airplane loses electrical power. He is miraculously saved by another pilot who shepherds him back to a base.
All is not as it seems as the lucky pilot searches for his shepherd savior to thank him.
We’ve recently found a CBC recording of this book, and I want to share it with you all.
